Situated on the busiest shipping lanes in the World, Calais is the main port sailing from the UK to France. There is more to Calais than just a port and it is well worth while taking the time to explore this charming town. There are many excellent restaurants and shops in Calais and the locals are very welcoming to their British cousins.
Calais is also famous for Rodin's statue The Burghers of Calais (Les Bourgeois de Calais). This masterpiece is located just opposite Calais's picturesque town hall.
